Vox Shop Display Contest
The due date was looming, and we’d been so busy with Skatecamp and the week in general that we didn’t even get to start until about 7:00pm on the deadline night. Plus we didn’t have hardly anything from Vox in the store! No new shoes, no stickers, no ramp tape, no POP!
First off we had to match the Vox blue and hit Fuller Paint & Glass for some paint…
Then we had to roll out the wall…
Next we had to mask off some lines for the “ramp tape” effect we created by hand with paint and stencils…
We decided to paint the coping black, which meant all the stickers, duct tape and gunk had to be razored off…
A few hours in and we had all the background painted, by this time it was 9:00pm and we needed things to dry faster so we brought in some fans…
Then we had to jam to Fedex and I had to recreate the Vox logo for the stencils in under 15 minutes while Caps busted my balls about everything possible…
First the little stencil for the “ramp tape” effect…
Then the big letters for the wall…
We decided to take a risk and cut the wings out of the stencil…
We could only afford to print out one of each stencil, so precision was key…
Then we taped the letters onto the wall…
In the end it was easier to cut the “wings” out and just photo mount them to the wall…
10:00pm came up fast, which meant it was time to start painting because we only had two hours left to dry the paint, attach the shoes to the wall, shoot the photo and send it off…
After that there was a little cleanup and things started looking good…
Luckily Steve had the wallride wired and this part only took 15 minutes but still it was past 11:00pm at this point and we were under the gun! A few quick tweaks in Photoshop and our photo was submitted at 11:52pm.
Thanks Vox and everybody that helped!!!
